Dr. Joleen Fernald |

Joleen R. Fernald, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL is a speech language pathologist with expertise in the assessment and treatment of selective mutism (SM). She has worked for more than 20 years in schools and pediatric outpatient clinics and is the owner of a private practice which was the first multidisciplinary assessment and treatment center solely focused on SM.
A Training Leader and Expert Provider, Joleen follows Greenspan and Wieder’s model, DIRFloortime® , when working with children and families. This comprehensive and holistic perspective considers the multiple comorbidities commonly associated with Selective Mutism including the social emotional challenges, individual differences such as speech and language, motor, and sensory processing challenges, as well as relationships with others besides caregivers. She has a special interest in the social emotional development of young children and its impact on their speech and language skills.
Personally, Joleen is a past president, secretary, and treasurer of Selective Mutism Association. She and her husband enjoy traveling with their two daughters, the eldest of whom has overcome Selective Mutism.
On the show, we talk about her own personal experience with her daughter, top dos and don't for anxious kids with SM, and first steps for kids who have, or might have, the diagnosis.

JENNIFER Bronsnick, LCSW

Jennifer has spent 18+ years working with women and families in schools, hospitals and private practice. She has a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University and a Clinical License to practice Social Work in New Jersey and Florida Jennifer also has a Certification in Holistic Health Coaching from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She is a Certified Child and Adolescent Anxiety Treatment Professional, a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Practitioner and has Certifications in Human Design, Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, EFT, Mindfulness, and Quantum Alignment.
She is the author/co-author of 4 books Including: Thriving Mama: 10 Secrets for Healing Your Mind, Body and Spirit from Burnout. Mindful Mommy: 10 Secrets for Healing Your Mind, Body and Spirit After Having a Baby, and Zoo Party which is a childrens' book that she wrote with her daughter. Suddhayu

Suddhayu developed an interest in Eastern thought and meditation as a teenager. In 1992 he attended a life-changing meditation retreat at Aryaloka. Soon after, he moved in to the residential community there, where he lived for the next eight years, exploring his love of Dharma, meditation and community. He lived in England for six months where he worked for a Buddhist Right Livelihood project, and attended a four month retreat in the mountains of Spain where he was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order.
In the new century, Suddhayu married Lona Kovacs and co-founded Touching Earth Farm CSA and Portsmouth Buddhist Center. He has been teaching meditation and Buddhism workshops and leading retreats since 1998. He currently works full-time for Dharma initiatives as Chair at the Portsmouth Buddhist Center and Manager of Aryaloka.
